One of the great chiefs of the Cherokee Nation, and its first female chief, passed away today. Wilma Mankiller is widely acknowledged as one of the Cherokees' greatest chiefs, and she did so much for so many of her own, both during and after her two terms. Please join the Daily Okie in grieving for the passing of a wonderful example of a strong and proud people. Her passing leaves us all a bit poorer today.
