Movies, Movies, Movies

First, while we were in Oklahoma, we took the boys to see Ratatouille and Transformers. Reviews in brief:

Ratatouille -- Much better than I thought it would be, though not close to the triumphs of the Toy Story movies or Finding Nemo. But, of course, they'll make back most of the money in merchandising. It's not a must-see, but if you're interested in it, you'll probably like it.

Transformers -- one word: AWESOME!! For someone who was a big Transformers fan as a kid (I still have all of my Transformers comic books, in fact...I saved them for my sons), it was great and followed the old storyline pretty well. They even had the same guy do the voice of Optimus Prime, the leader of the benevolent Autobots, who did the voice in the original cartoons in the 80s. The CGI and effects were excellent, the action was very good, the plot was very good...it won't win Best Picture but it's definitely worth the money. Heidi and I felt it was much better than Spiderman 3, in fact. Oh, and having Bumblebee convert from on old yellow VW Beetle to a brand-new, hot Chevy Camaro was a great move. If you haven't gone to see it yet, go...GO NOW!!!

Sunday night we went to see
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While it still can't hold a candle to the books, it was by far the best HP movie so far. The fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort at the end was very well-done and true to what was presented in the book, and that was wonderful to see. Again, it's difficult for them to put in the level of character development that the books have, as it would make for a four-hour movie to do so. But again, this movie was by far the best and closest to the book, and had the best layout. I highly recommend this one as well, though if you're only going to see one of these three, Transformers should be the one.

Thanks for reading along.
