Life in Babyland

The last week or so has really confirmed to me that I am fully in Babyland. Saturday we had our childbirth class, where we learned the breathing and the techniques to mitigate pain during labor. We also learned about putting together a birthing plan, but really we learned most that we're still very unprepared for this baby.

Then Sunday night, Heidi thought her water had broke and that she might be going into premature labor. After a tense few hours, with her alone at the maternity ward and me at home watching the boys (so I couldn't even be there with her to support her), it turned out to be, happily, a false alarm.

Last night we went to the breastfeeding class, an unusual experience for me as a man. Heidi even remarked, "I don't think I've heard the word 'breast' so many times in one place...it has no effect whatsoever on me now." She then deadpanned, "Would you like to hold my breast? See, nothing."

We still have to get some baby furniture going, figure out how to get a minivan, think about putting together our birthing plan, pack The Bag...there's so much. Oh, and preparing for the abrupt schedule change we're about to have thrust upon us.

Can I just say....wow. I mean, I've been here before, but I guess I had forgotten the sort of life-change this truly entails, both in preparation and in execution.

As an aside, I'm very disappointed at how many organizations completely ignored President's Day. IT'S A HOLIDAY, PEOPLE...USE IT!!! That's all on that subject.

Please pray for me. I'm under a tremendous amount of stress, for many reasons, and I am concerned that my buttresses are weakening. Pray also for my family, that we will make it through. I know I ask this a lot, but we need your prayers. Thanks to all who have been praying for us.

Thanks for reading along.
