Please keep my Aunt Diana and her old best friend Gwen in your thoughts and prayers over the next several months. Gwen was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and recently underwent a double mastectomy. She still has a long, hard road ahead of her. Aunt Diana has an equally long, hard road; after watching her sister and other best friend, my Aunt Dena, struggle against and finally succumb to cancer just a few short years ago, I do not envy her the road she will travel again as she watches this happen all over again. They both need your prayers.
Is anyone else getting tired of hearing the overblown, over-used word "hater"? Anyone that doesn't like what you like is a "hater" now. Actually, I'm really tired of the entire "hate" phenomenon that has sprung up over the last several years. Hate crimes, "stop the hate", whatever floats your boat. Get over it, folks; lots of people will never like you or anything about you, and that's a fact of life. Whether you find that sad or not, don't hide behind words. Humans are far too stupid as a species to get along on a large scale. Once we start to understand and embrace that simple fact, things might start to get better.
You might love Jerry Falwell or you might hate him. But he has earned his eternal reward. Falwell was a character very much like George W. Bush; he lived according to his own ideals, and he stuck by them, regardless of what others thought. In a way, because of that, he was a living, in-your-face example of the persecution all Christians face when they discuss their beliefs in the "open forum" of today. He was a good, strong Christian. Rest in peace, Brother Jerry; may Jesus welcome you into His eternal kingdom. Enter into your rest.
I do like this picture of him in full battle dress, though, especially with his name, "Wales," on the front of his helmet. Most of us just get our regular name. Come to think of it, what WOULD his last name be? Windsor, after the Royal House? Mountbatten, after his father?
And think how it must be for his commanding officers...ugh.
I've been thinking lately about bumper stickers, mostly because I despise them, especially the political ones. I find it hypocritical that there are so many bumper-sticker activists out there who believe they're doing something meaningful for their cause by slapping a bumper sticker on their car. Must be nice to be able to get that smug self-righteousness with so little work.
On the other hand, I've decided to have a bumper sticker made for myself. I have some other ideas, and I'll probably post them as time goes on, once I'm happy with them. Here's my first, best idea so far:
"You already made your CHOICE...unprotected sex."
I think it works, at least for me. Thanks for reading along.
