Today's Chuck Norris Fact:
BAD NEWS!!! I had planned to do a nice double-dip edition of Chuck Norris facts today, but alas, the site is reported by GoDaddy as unavailable! In lieu of a Chuck Norris Fact, please accept a quote from another one of my heroes, Albert Einstein:
Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
So anyway, I found this interesting article on a non-football endeavor upon which several of OU's football players have embarked (NOTE: a free registration may be required to view this, but most of you reading this are Okies anyway, so you might already have registered with the Daily Oklahoman Online):
OU football players tackle roles in ‘Caesar' opera
Quite interesting...I'm sure the change in perspective for the players was a positive one. The comments from Allen Patrick and Manuel Johnson are quite telling.
Speaking of spring practices have started at OU this week, and already everyone's screaming about the quarterback position. Yeah, yeah, the whole world knows we need a quarterback. On the plus side, it appears that the college football world is--finally--beginning to move on from the whole Fiesta Bowl thing. College Football News is even predicting that we should be able to make another run for the Big 12 Championship and that we have a shot at the national title. After how our year ended last year, let's hope so.
And lay off Brent Venables, will you guys, PLEASE?? Sure, the defense has been a little off since Mike Stoops left, but what did you expect? Mike was a defensive genius. Venables is more than capable, and frankly, hasn't exactly stunk it up since he took over as defensive coordinator. I like what Wilson did in the offensive coordinator spot last year, and I look for a MUCH improved offense. If anything hurt us last year, it's that we seemed to depend too much on AD. We played our best offensive games while he was hurt. Now that he's gone for good (and best wished to him...MAKE US PROUD, ADRIAN!!), we should be able to return to the balanced offense we're used to seeing.
I haven't been out to visit any of the bulletin boards lately...I'll have to go out and see how folks feel about it now.
I'm still donating at least $1 million to the Athletic Department when I win the Powerball tonight, on the condition that my family gets those 6 tickets (GOOD SEATS, somewhere between the 40s) to every OU home game and OU-Texas, every year, IN PERPETUITY, until I or someone designated has willingly given those seats up. At last check, my name was somewhere in the low 10,000s on the OU season ticket list. I'm figuring that nice cool million will easily move me into a prime position. Come on, how many of you OU fans wouldn't do the same thing, if you had it to give? Honestly???
Thanks for reading along.
