Well, it's official...the state of Colorado is full of morons. Despite years and years of incompetent and corrupt governance by the Democratic party, and despite the fact that most Democrats during this election cycle were running on the "Vote for us because we're not Republicans!!" platform, the poor, stupid sheep of this pitiful excuse for a state voted pretty much completely Democratic yesterday. The voters of the city of Denver are particularly dim; rampant problems on Election Day made some folks wait up to 3 hours to vote. They must REALLY have been eager to "vote their consciences." These same geniuses voted to allow marijuana to be kept in small amounts within the city of Denver during the last election cycle. Oh, and we can't forget the brilliance of these same people, who thought it a wonderful idea to donate all of our tax refunds to the state for the next 5 years (and in practice, that provision will probably never be removed). It scares me that many of these folks routinely sit on juries.
This state is going to Hell, but frankly, it deserves it. I'm just sorry that my family and I will have to endure the foolishness of our fellow citizens, who seem to love higher taxes, incompetent leaders, and corruption in government, for at least another two years.
On a positive note, at least they have something resembling a moral compass, even if they're easily led around by the nose: Amendment 43, which defines marriage in Colorado as "one man and one woman" passed handily, while Referendum I, which would have permitted civil unions for homosexuals, failed by about the same margin.
