Signs of Spring

So Spring arrived a while back, but we get regular reminders here in Colorado. The redbud in our backyard is in full, beautiful bloom...the flowers in our flowerbeds...glorious songs of birds in our backyard...

And no spring in Colorado would be complete without a sudden, freak 50-mph gust of wind that blows your chairs off your deck. Like the one we just got.

Sometimes this state still drives me crazy. I'm not so hot about that redbud in my backyard, either, teasing me with the fact that it's the Oklahoma state tree, and yet I'm still living here in Colorado.

So as you can see, I have changed the blog a little. I "upgraded" my template, and it's not too bad. I'm going to be messing with the template now that I've upgraded, because I like the layout of the archives better with this one, but it doesn't really fully capture me or my blog. Most obviously I need to add more red. I have a few other ideas, too, so we'll see how everything plays out. Keep your eyes open, and let me know what you think when you see it.

Speaking of the blog, my hit counter has some built-in visitor tracking, and I'm seeing lots of people visiting my blog and I don't even know who they are! It's awesome! Not that I'm some sort of famous blogger or anything, but it is very surreal to see all of these people hitting my blog, when I have absolutely no idea who they are.

So this summer promises to be incredible! I mean, we've got Spiderman 3, Harry Potter Book 7 (this one I'm looking forward to the most), Harry Potter Movie 5, The Simpsons Movie, Shrek 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, the end of the first season of Heroes...I'm telling you, there's going to be just too much to watch. Especially for me, since I'll also be working my day job, teaching nights, working on my masters, helping Heidi with Owen and the other kids...boy, come to think of it, I might need a little escapism this summer.

So Rosie's leaving "The View". I can't say I'll miss her. Her constant political yammering, frankly, was growing wearisome. I mean, don't we get enough political yammering on TV, WITHOUT Rosie's ridiculous nonsense? The Denver Post's TV critic is going to miss her "boatrocking". Again...as though we needed more of that sort of thing. I'd say that most of all, the American people are getting tired of the constant whiny bickering that passes for political discourse. Maybe some day, we'll get past that again. I still think that ultimately the United States will cease to exist, not because we are destroyed by Islamofascism, but because we destroy ourselves through escalating intolerance, particularly that displayed loudly and proudly by the left. I continue to be dismayed by those who preach tolerance, only to see those same people demonstrate their own extreme intolerance.

I expect that the Midwest and the South will secede from the Union, leaving the coasts to their own devices. Seriously, I fully believe this. I know lots of folks who don't cotton much to all this gun control talk; they'll lead the first charge, I figure. Perhaps the Big One will hit California and it will fall off into the sea; that would certainly simplify matters. By the way, Chong, make sure you move away from San Diego before that happens, OK?

Thanks for reading along.
