Using his trademark roundhouse kick, Chuck Norris once made a field goal in RJ Stadium in Tampa Bay from the 50 yard line of Qualcomm stadium in San Diego.
I've been gone a while, obviously. Don't even get me started on why; the last three weeks truly have been something to behold
Amazingly, at my annual physical today, the doctor said my BP was only 130 over 84. Somehow I expected it to be 10-15 points higher. I'm actually waiting to step outside some morning just in time to see a meteor fall from the sky and destroy the house and both cars.
Heidi is doing beautifully with our new baby growing inside of her, though she is amazingly tired and can sometimes be a handful to deal with, with all those hormones coursing through her veins. But we're closer than ever (if that were somehow possible), and both extremely happy that things are going well so far with the pregnancy. As part of all of this, I did get to go to the first doctor appointment and see the ultrasound. This meant that I not only got to see the heartbeat, but incredibly, our new little one actually WAVED AT US! We were just sitting there, looking at the screen, when the doctor said, "Oh, look...it's moving!" As we looked closer, we saw it wave it's little arm at us, almost as though it were saying, "Hi, Mom! Hi, Dad! Can't wait to come out!" What an amazing and breathtaking moment that was...it drove home the reality, beauty, and power of the pregnancy. By the way, you can zip over to Heidi's blog to check out a photo of the ultrasound photo. The quality isn't the best, but we don't have a scanner, so Heidi did the best she could with it. Enjoy!
Please keep us all...my grandma, Heidi's grandma, our families, our new baby, our kids, Heidi, and me...in your thoughts and prayers, because this roller coaster ride isn't over just yet. It's difficult to stay calm with all this going on, and to keep faith that God will lead me to good places. Good thing God already speaks to us in times like this:
"The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:14
"Be still and know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him..." Psalm 37:7
It's difficult to do, but that whole "let go and let God" idea really works. After all, He promises it. Pray for me for us all that we will be able to "be still."
Imagine, if you will, a world where the bizarre is commonplace...where the strange and unusual happens every day...where unimaginable occurrences are as regular as the sun rising in the morning...
You've entered...THE EVERYDAY WORLD OF OUR PLANET EARTH.
I'm devoting some time here to providing some links to some very bizarre and outrageous things I've come across during the last couple of weeks. They are truly not to be missed.
First, check out this girl. If this isn't one of the craziest phobias I've ever heard of, I don't know another. An old friend was afraid of clowns, Katie doesn't like dressed mascots (like Pistol Pete or Chuck E. Cheese or those kind)...but this DEFINITELY takes the cake.
Next up is this guy, taking a picture of himself every day for SIX YEARS. If you haven't seen it, it's pretty strange, and more than a little creepy, honestly. If that's not enough, check out this guy and his six years of post-sex photos. Very...um...creative.

For this one, I couldn't resist...check out www.quacksquad.com for a hilarious take on the bizarre and disturbing debacle also known as "the 2006 OU vs. Oregon football game." If that event and its aftermath wasn't crazy enough for this list, I don't know what else could be. Then, of course, there are those diehards even more diehard than me, who threatened to kill the poor replay official. I'm pissed about it, too, but it doesn't merit death. Sure, fire him, but don't kill him and his whole family...what are we, the Sopranos? The Corleones?
In our "Blast from the Past" category, try this old favorite. If you don't remember the Sesame Street Pinball song (performed by the Pointer Sisters, no less), let this take you back to a simpler time...
What's stranger than women and their hormonal/motherhood issues? I can't pretend to understand them, nor will I ever, but to have two cases of women in just the last two weeks attacking other women for their babies...what's this world coming to? One takes a baby and slashes the mother's throat; the other kills the mother and cuts the baby out of her. Andrea Yates...that weird lady in Kansas...if this is such a common problem, why don't we discuss it more openly? There's some talk about post-partum depression and the like, but the motherhood drive, either through biological or societal pressure, seems to make women do very bad things. Perhaps this should be treated with the same sort of scrutiny previously reserved for peer pressure and eating disorders with young girls.
Hmmmmm...Bill Clinton gets upset when some Fox News guy asks him simple questions about why he didn't bag Osama bin Laden when he had the chance? Hey, Bill, if you'd pursued ObL with the same fervor and dedication with which you pursued Monica Lewinsky's blue dress, we probably wouldn't be where we are today. Think about it.
Well, that's all for today, kids. Back to the grind...again, keep me, Heidi, our baby, my children, and our families in your thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks. We really need it.
Thanks for reading along.
